Deadpool Movie Details Emerge
After years of rumors and trying to forget that Wolverinee: Origins existed we finally have it, proof that the Deadpool movie is going to happen. On star, and long time fan pick, Ryan Reynolds revealed Deadpool’s costume in the most Deadpooly pose ever. As far as the comic purist side of me goes I love it. It gets the humor pretty well and the suit. A bit Liefeldy with all the patches but that’s okay. The next day Fox revealed the logo (I guess that’s a thing we do now) and the plot.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
How… generic. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by an origin story it’s just this description is pretty vague. At this point the only other big reveal is whether the movie will be R or PG-13. While the movie could go either it would be interesting to see a big Marvel character get an R-rated movie not named The Punisher. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Nothing but Spies Pt. 1
For fans of spy movies this was a great week. Earlier this week we got our first glimpse of Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. The Mission: Impossible franchise has had an interesting history. It seems to have done the impossible and gotten better with each successive entry. How? By somehow one-upping the action of the previous movie and letting Tom Cruise be his charismatic, crazy self. As far as the trailer goes it seems to promise the same. So far we have Tom Cruise jumping into some kind of waterfall/wind tunnel hybrid, Tom Cruise hanging onto a plane while it’s in the air and a flute that turns into a gun for some reason. Add Simon Pegg being Simon Pegg and you the makings of a fun action movie.

Nothing but Spies Pt. 2
Not to be outdone the teaser trailer for the long-awaited the latest James Bond movie dropped late Friday. Directed by Sam Mendes (Skyfall) it starts on an unusually somber note. Taking place after Skyfall Bond is confronted by information from his past, specifically his family. This seems to lead him down a trail not only into his past but one that to confront the Spectre terrorist group. While not too much is given away we can at least infer that Christoph Waltz is the shadowy, big bad of the movie. Christoph Waltz being a badass villain? Nothing wrong with that.
Kung Fu Jungle to Get US Release
Over the past few years Wellgo USA has quickly become one of my favorite film distribution companies. Dedicated to Asian film they have consistently released some of the best martial arts movies of the past few years. More importantly, at least from a fanboy perspective, they are the main source of Donnie Yen movies in the US. April 27th we will get the latest Donnie release with Kung Fu Jungle. Donnie vs a serial killer that kills Grandmasters. Good, bad, the plot alone makes it worth seeing.
