Nicolas Winding Refn to direct Horror Movie
With the critically acclaimed Drive and the panned Only God Forgives Nicolas Winding Refn is one of the more divisive directors going today. In a move that should thrill genre film fans, and infuriate the stereotypical critic, Refn has decided to dip his toe into the horror genre. While a movie titled I Walk with the Dead was talked about before he announced this week that he will start principal photography on The Neon Demon in early 2015. Taking place in Los Angeles and with a female-led cast little else is known about the project. Despite the lack of details I’m eagerly anticipating this movie. In a genre that tends to get boring when it comes to theatrical releases Refn is a welcome addition to the horror universe. And if he can get Gosling to appear in a horror movie that would be even more surreal.

Loki and Heimdall in Avengers: Age of Ultron
In an interview Idris Elba, aka Stringer Bell aka the coolest guy ever let it slip that Loki and Heimdall will be appearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Apparently Marvel wanted to keep this as a surprise but I can’t think of better publicity. People love Loki and letting people know he’ll appear is one of those things you should want people to know. And heck as long as I get more Stringer Bell dressed up like Goldar it’s all good.

Hateful Eight Cast Complete
Channing Tatum in a Quentin Tarantino movie. Just… just let that sink in. Given Tarantino is no stranger to casting outside of the box. This is the same director that got Mike Myers to play a British General, Michael Parks as a latin pimp and Jonah Hill as a Klansman. Heck his casting reinvigorated Travolta’s career. Not to mention despite the odds Channing Tatum isn’t a bad actor. I mean he’s really shone as a comedy star with the Jump Street movies and he’s getting some great reviews for Foxcatcher. Still Tatum working with the likes of Tim Roth and MIchael Madsen is one of those things you’d never expect to read.

Toy Story 4 in 2017
Pixar made a surprise reveal this week when they announced a new Toy Story movie. Have to be honest, kind of wary. Given Pixar are pretty much a “Must See” company at this point but I’m a bit shocked to see them going back to the franchise. Even more surprising when it was revealed that Rashida Jones and Will McCormack will be writing the script. As far as I can tell the only script the duo have written was for the romantic dramedy Celeste and Jesse Forever. While I generally enjoyed that movie it’s a bit weird to hear a movie this big will be their next film. Pixar trusts them though and with their track record I’m willing to as well.

Selfie Cancelled but Forever gets Full Season?
While not the first cancellation this season this is probably the first that really bummed me out. Despite an awkward start Selfie quickly became one of the better debuting shows this season. Unfortunately due to low ratings the show has been cancelled. In a bigger shock, at least to me, Forever was given a full season. Maybe it’s me but I have never heard anybody talk about this show. It was just “The show where Mr. Fantastic is wicked old after SHIELD.” Is there something I’m missing? Either way it’s a shame to see a great show like Selfie cut off so soon.
